Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 August 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data PassOn collects, how we use it, and your rights. We process personal data in line with UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). PassOn is a peer-to-peer marketplace for buying and selling pre-loved items. In these documents, "PassOn", "we", "us" and "our" refer to the operator of the PassOn app; "you" and "your" refer to you as a user of the app.
2. Data we collect
Account details (email, username, display name, and anything you add to your profile such as a bio, location, avatar or social links); content you create (listings, photos, messages, posts, reviews, support tickets); transaction data (orders, balances, payout details); and technical data (device tokens for notifications, and basic usage/diagnostic information).
3. How we use your data
To run the marketplace — create your account, show your listings, process orders, arrange shipping, enable messaging, pay out sellers, provide support, keep the platform safe, and send you relevant notifications. We also use limited data to personalise your home feed based on what you search for, view and favourite.
4. Legal bases
We rely on: performance of our contract with you (to provide the service); our legitimate interests (to keep PassOn safe, prevent fraud, and improve the app); your consent (where asked, e.g. certain notifications); and legal obligations (e.g. tax and record-keeping).
5. Who we share it with
We share data only as needed to run the service: our payment provider (Stripe) to process payments and payouts; our shipping partners to create labels and track parcels; our email/notification providers to reach you; and authorities where required by law. We do not sell your personal data.
6. Your public profile
Your display name, public @username, avatar, listings, ratings and public posts are visible to other users. Your email address is used for sign-in and is not shown publicly. Take care about what you choose to share in public fields.
7. Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. When no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.
8. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to data portability. You can exercise these rights by contacting us. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption of passwords and secure handling of payment details by our payment provider (we never see your full card details). No system is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
10. Children
PassOn is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will remove it.
11. Changes and contact
We may update this policy; the "last updated" date shows when. For any privacy question or to exercise your rights, contact us through the Help Centre in the app.
